The Tree Spirit Flutes

Long Ago My Grandfather gifted me the Knowledge of the Flute.
How to find a branch of strong spirit, How to remove the heart of the Branch.
He told me how when a flute is made the player of that flute
breathes his heart into the Branch to become and join with the heart
and spirit of the tree. The Tree sings what is in you're Heart.
My flutes are always made from the branch or trunk of a single
Tree to honor the spirit of that tree.
The Trees that gift me their wood are  from Northern Colorado a place rich
in Native American History.
I am not a full time flute maker, though I have 3 decades of experience.
These flutes are crafted in the Colorado Rockies at my home
in Cherokee Park next to the heat of a pot belly stove, and
are made out my love of the Instrument,
My dedication to preserve the knowledge I have been gifted,
and to Honor the memory of my Forefathers and the
Trees whose spirit resides within.

The Tree

This Piece is born of a large and very old Lilac bush which was growing right next to the original cabin site along Overland Trail Road. During the Blizzard of  2003 it was knocked down by a snow plow and rescued by myself to live on in flutes. Early Greek Cultures had many legends revolving around the Lilac in their Mythology and it was commonly used to make early Greek  flutes and pipestems. As it was transplanted from Europe to America it seems only fitting to bring it to a place in the Native American Traditions of flutes as well.

Metaphysical Properties of the Malachite and Silver Quartz Mix Inlay

Malachite stimulates physical and psychic vision, and concentration.  Releases and draws out  depression, and anger.  Protects well by powerfully cleaning the auric field, rapidly absorbing undesirable energies.  Malachite also magnifies the positive, and so it is useful if your mood is definitely on the upswing. It should not be used in healing without careful consideration of who is doing the healing. It is useful for relaxation and it is said to awaken healing qualities.

Quartz is the Master Healer and the "stone of power"! Probably the most versatile multipurpose healing stone.  The natural tendency for quartz is for harmony. Quartz can both draw and send energy therefore it is effective for sending/receiving guidance. Quartz is used for transformation in healing and in all levels of change (mentally/emotionally, physically and spiritually). Quartz stimulates the natural crystal in body tissues and fluids to resonate at the highest healing frequency. It is a grounding stone and heightens your understanding of nature and concerns for the environment. It helps to alleviate fear, anxiety and , clears ambivalence and fortifies resolve.

The Area

The Tree  was growing on the Site of the Overland Trail Stage Stop and trading post, on the outskirts of Fort Collins Colorado Along side the Cache La Poudre River. This was a place where the Sioux and Cheyenne often came to trade, and Tepee Rings are still visible in the area. Many tribes of animals call this place home such as Fox, Deer and many Birds whose songs can be heard on the area sound Page.

The Flute

This Flute was Made using a "Natural Construction Method" which means I followed all the natural curves of the Branch in its construction Weather Checks and worm holes are stabilized and inlaid with a Malachite and Silver Quartz Mix to form Designs drawn by the tree its self and sometimes  I add a little to make native symbols appear.  This flute is also made in the old ways as far sound hole construction and Tuning Giving each instrument its own unique character and voice making it truly one of a kind in all respects. This Flute is in the key of >>>***<<< according to my electronic guitar tuner. The Stand is not Included. This flute has a bore 11 1/4 inches long, and 5/8 inches in Diameter, The Overall length of the flute is 15 1/4 inches, and the finger holes average 13/16 inches apart.
