Generational Tuning

Generational Tuning  is a new style of tuning the Native American Flute.
In tuning a flute in the Old Ways human measurements of an individual are used to determine the aspects of a flute including  bore length , bore size,  overall length, and  finger hole placement.

In concert tuning a flute mathematical equations are often used to  determine these factors.

A few years back I made concert tuned flutes but then moved back to more traditional methods.

With a flute tuned in the old ways, songs you could never play on a concert tuned flute become possible and creativity is stirred, but also most written music cannot be played.
The comments from my Customers and Friends inspired me to come up with something new.

Taking the averages of the measurements I have collected over the years to make flutes in the Old Ways and combining their mathematical similarities, I then Combined them with the mathematical equations used in making concert tuned flutes, to bring together a blend of the Old Generations with the new, and Generational Tuning was born.

This Results in a Truly Unique scale which still brings out the individuality of not only each tree but also the Human dimensions to which it was based, as well as a scale which can still be used to play most written music, again with Truly Unique Variations.
